AirPlay AirPlay

Beamer supports all Apple TVs with AirPlay. AirPlay is available since the 2nd generation Apple TV, so the 2nd and 3rd generation and the new Apple TV (4th generation) are supported.

Beamer plays videos to the Apple TV out-of-the-box, no jailbreak required, no app to install. It also requires no extra installations on your Mac. Even Macs that do not support macOS AirPlay Mirroring are supported by Beamer.

Google Cast Google Cast New in 3.0

Beamer is Google Cast-enabled, it plays movies directly to Chromecast (1st and 2nd generation) and other devices that have Google Cast built-in, like Android TV devices.

Some formats support multiple video encodings, but those are all supported too: HEVC, H264, H265, VP8, VP9? No problem!

Both embedded subtitle tracks and external subtitles files are supported by Beamer in a wide range of formats:

Beamer automatically detects embedded subtitles and associated subtitle files.

Text based subtitles will be offered to the Apple TV or Chromecast for rendering and bitmap based subtitles will be burned into the video.

Remote Control

When the video plays on Apple TV, you can pause, fast-forward and rewind the movie using the Apple TV remote. No need to get up from the couch.

New in 3.0 Go to the next movie on the playlist by double-clicking the play button on the Apple Remote. Just like skipping a track with the Apple headphones clicker.

You can queue up a bunch of videos in Beamer to watch in succession. Perfect for planning a care-free TV night when you don’t even want to leave the couch. Popcorn not included!

New in 3.0 The playlist is now integrated into the player window of the app, and displays the titles of previously viewed movies, making it easy to select a favorite video for additional viewing. Or, if preferred, the app can automatically remove the titles of already watched movies from the list.

Configure Beamer as you like and make it do the boring work:

Beamer remembers what you have watched and at what point in the video you stopped watching. When you return to Beamer, everything is exactly where you left it. Just press play and continue watching.
